Hiking
Last week we went to Wascana Trails to hike along the bike paths around the mighty Wascana Creek
We hiked for about 2 and a half hours dodging bikers and climbing up and down the walls of the Qu'Appelle Valley. The morning was clear and warm but without the high humidity we have been experiencing for the last few weeks.
We often hike with Dr. Jackie Kuikman. Jackie is a mountain climber, adventurer and a good friend. She is also a professor of religious studies at Campion College, a federated college of the University of Regina. Jackie knows everything - from which berries won't kill you when you eat them to the difference between Rhubarb and Skunk Cabbage. It is always fun and educational when we go with her.
The area is beautiful if not daunting for an intermittent hiker like me. There is only one bridge over the creek and the trails meander up and down the sides of the valley. Getting back to the car can sometimes be the most adventuresome part of the hike.
