Passover
Last night was the first night of Passover and we hosted the first seder. This holiday is the normal spring celebration - rebirth, redemption and thankfulness.
Twenty one people sat down to our seder table and heard the story of how Moses (and God - or was it the other way around) lead the children of Israel out of slavery in Egypt.
Along the way we stopped to think about Charlton Heston - although none of us agreed with his politics his role as Moses provided the archetype for many people's conception of the Passover story.
Passover frequently comes close to end of the semester and for me that is always a special time. One thing ending and another thing starting - always an exciting time.
