Research in Business Education
The publish or perish idea is alive and well in the business education professoriate. Getting tenure and/or getting promoted at some universities is becoming more and more difficult.
It seems to me that this demand that 'something' be published to mark progress in a career leads to publishing 'anything' just to have it published.
As a business teacher educator I want to be able to read the empirical research literature - both qualitative and quantitative studies. As a result of reading this literature I want to be able to both understand and improve my practice.
We're not there yet. We understudy and we overgeneralize. We study small corners of our universe and we forget to contextualize our research.
