Cumin, Coriander and Turmeric
I have a colleague that makes exotic food and I am always ready to try something different. She gave me her recipe for Tandoori Chicken (I substituted the barbecue for the tandoor)
In her recipe she suggested either a few tablespoons of Curry or one tablespoon each of Cumin, Coriander and Turmeric.
My daughter tasted the chicken and I was very curious to know if she liked it.
She said the curry taste was too strong.
Being the smartass that I am I said "Ha!! I didn't even put curry into the recipe - I used Cumin, Coriander and Turmeric."
Sometimes a daughter knows more than her father!
Curry powder is a combination of Cumin, Coriander and Turmeric
However in my investigations I did find out that there is such a thing as a Curry Tree but interestingly enough the leafs from the Curry Tree are not used in Curry.
