Using Performance for Firefox

I have just discovered an extension for firefox that allows me to add entries to my blog directly from firefox. This entry is my first attempt. It seems easy but we'll see - the categories are a bit different and may provide a challenge for me.

A brief weather update - it is cloudy but not raining here in Vancouver. Needless to say there is no snow on the ground

Vancouver again

We have experienced rain, sun and overcast weather - but as I keep reminding myself - it is February, there is no snow on the ground and exposed skin doesn't freeze in 10 seconds.

Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The mountains with their cloud shawls, the ocean with its ever changing surface and colour, the sky alternating between blue and bright and overcast and grey are all a wonder for this prairie boy.

On the other hand I get claustrophobic at times. I am crowded by the mountains on one side and the water on the other. Where is the horizon? It isn't even visible over the water.

The change is good though.

I am doing a fair bit of work here sitting at the kitchen table next to a wall of floor to ceiling windows. Our apartment is on the 27th floor so the view is incredible - water on two sides and mountains framing the city.

During the day I can watch the seaplanes landing and taking off. At night the lights of the downtown and up higher, the lights of West and North Vancouver provide me with a beautiful landscape.

There is something about being above the hubbub that allows for reflection, introspection and thought.

Its a good place to work, to think, to appreciate

Vancouver

Wednesday night we landed in Vancouver. I'm going to be spending the midterm break here to get away from the snow and incredibly cold weather in Regina. We have the same apartment we stayed in when I was on sabbatical - a block off of Robson and right downtown. Its on the 27th floor and the view is spectacular - Coal Harbour on the right and English Bay on the left. I will post some pictures while we are here.

After the blandness of the snow in Regina I appreciate the colours and air of Vancouver. It has rained quite a bit here this winter I understand but that makes the grass green and there are buds on the trees and the plants. There is new life after all.
